Chats on the Past: Author Talk with Sonia Gomez’s Picture Bride, War Bride

May 15 @ 12:00 pm 1:00 pm

Join us to discuss Sonia Gomez’ book Picture Bride, War Bride: The Role of Marriage in Shaping Japanese America (New York University Press, 2024). Learn how marriage played a pivotal role in the lives of Japanese and Japanese American women throughout the twentieth century.

Gomez is a historian of the 20th-century United States and an Assistant Professor at Santa Clara University. Her work primarily focuses on how intersectionality; overlapping characteristics such as race, gender, and ethnicity; shape the experiences of immigrant communities in the United States.
