Exhibit Opening: On the Front Lines of Mercy
November 11 @ 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm
Through the extraordinary experiences of Merritt Nevitt Oates, a World War I ambulance driver and nurse who later made her home in Westport, this exhibition explores the often-overlooked role of women in the Great War. Drawing on original archival materials, photographs, and artifacts donated to the Westport Museum, the exhibition reveals how women challenged traditional expectations while serving on the front lines of a changing world. Their stories illuminate the emergence of Pax Americana—the rise of American global influence—and its far-reaching implications for women’s rights, international power, and the modern world. This exhibition opens on November 11 at 6:00pm. Join us for this free event. Refreshments served.
