Tuesday Treasure: Phonograph Cylinders

January 21 @ 12:30 pm 1:00 pm

Today, you can listen to your favorite song with a few taps on your smartphone. Even if you’re a little more old-fashioned, you can have a record or CD spinning within a minute or so. However, the earliest lovers of recorded music didn’t have the luxury of such simple mechanisms. Phonograph cylinders were the earliest way people were able to record audio, and the Museum will be sharing some of our own during our upcoming Tuesday Treasure showcase.

Tuesday Treasures is an online programming series showcasing objects from our collection not normally on public view. See and hear the stories behind some of the most unique, mysterious, and impactful artifacts in our community.
