Did you know there is an actual “Lincoln Bedroom” in Westport? That we had not one but two Nike missile defense sites in town? And that Kings Highway is more than just a name – it was the actual “King’s Highway,” back in the day?
You’ll learn all that – and much, much more – on a tour of town with “06880” blogger/Westport News columnist Dan Woog.
He knows where most of the bodies are buried (figuratively and literally). You’ll see parts of Westport you never knew existed, and hear tales of places you’ve passed a thousand times. You’ll learn how Staples High School ended up on North Avenue, far from the center of town. You’ll discover a hidden river that makes Westport look like Vermont. You’ll see the house that Liz Taylor and Harry Reasoner both lived in (though not together).
Whether you’ve lived here a few days or many decades, this is the tour of Westport you’ve always dreamed of taking. It begins where last year’s left off, covering the north and east parts of town.
Reservations are required, space is limited, 203-222-1424. The cost is $25 per person.
