Prepare for ghoulish family fun for all ages at the Westport Historical Society’s Pumpkin Contest during WHS’ month-long celebration, Spooktober!
Held on Saturday, Oct. 27, during the Night at the Haunted Historical Society event the winners of the various carving categories will be announced at 6:30 pm. Must be present to win.
Funny, scary, and most creative are the three carving categories. A winner will be chosen, by our judges, for each type in the following grade levels and groups: grade K-2, 3-5, 6-8, 9-12, and adults/organizations. Winners have a chance to win a gift card to a local business including the shops at Wheeler House!
WHS invites all town organizations, clubs, and residents — young and old — to enter a carved pumpkin into the Jack-o’-Lantern contest and display. Residents may submit a pumpkin as part of an organization and/or as an individual. Each carved jack-o’-lantern gains one free individual admission to Night at the Haunted Historical Society. Limited to one free entry.
Carved pumpkins with a non-flame light included may be dropped off at the the Westport Historical Society on Friday, Oct 26, from 3-5 pm or Saturday, Oct 27, from 9-1 pm.
Contestants who wish to pick up their pumpkins may do so on Sunday, Oct. 27, between noon and 4pm. WHS will dispose of any unclaimed pumpkins.
Pumpkins entered into the contest are being donated to WHS for display purposes. WHS is not responsible for any lost or damaged pumpkins.
