Share Your Story

December 27th, 2018

11:00 am - 6:00 pm

We invite everyone to share their story—how did your family get here? Museum staff and members of the Westport library will be present to assist scan and photograph any physical submissions you’d like to share to be a part of “Liberty To Set Down: Immigrants and Migrants in Westport Connecticut”, a new exhibition in connection with WestportREADS.

Submissions could include some of the following: photos of first generation Westporters, ancestral family members who immigrated to the area and photos of relevant land or objects, or copies of documents, like a census or ship manifest.

Every submission should have a visual component, as well as a written component that explains the picture and your family’s journey. The statement must be no more than one page in length. We are accepting scanned or photographed copies of handwritten statements, as well as typed statements.

To submit your materials virtually please use the “Share Your Story” button at westporthistory.org/liberty-to-set-down

All members of our community are welcome to participate! Submissions will be considered for both the physical exhibit and a new virtual platform, hosted by WHS to add detail and further stories using a device provided at the museum or your own smartphone!
