The Minute Man and Battle of Compo
Walk back in time to the turn of the 20th century with Town Curator Kathleen Motes Bennewitz, as she talks about The Minute Man Monument and its unveiling in 1910 as a commemoration of the colonists’ heroic efforts in the Danbury Raid. Learn how this iconic symbol of our town joined other monuments commemorating Revolutionary War battles at Concord and Lexington as a way to instill civic and national pride in the founding of our country for citizens still haunted by the events of the Civil War and coping with unprecedented immigration. Bring lunch, drinks provided.
There is a $10 donation for this event. Please call (203)222-1424 to make reservations.
