SUMMARY:Darkness: Experience CT's Witch Panic
DESCRIPTION:Step into the darkness. Step into 1647. \n\n\n\nBefore Halloween became costumes and candy\, fear could take a much darker form. \n\n\n\nEnter the world of Connecticut’s earliest European colonists and experience witchcraft beliefs\, superstition\, and fear through their own words. Seated in near-total darkness inside our newly renovated 19th-century barn\, you’ll hear the stories\, accusations\, and deeply held beliefs of a world where danger—physical and supernatural—seemed to lurk everywhere. \n\n\n\nThis is not a haunted house. It’s something more unsettling: history. \n\n\n\nDarkness is an immersive experience that explores the real fears and beliefs surrounding witchcraft in 17th-century Connecticut. The program includes mature themes and extended periods of complete darkness. \n\n\n\nPhones and other light sources are not permitted. Recommended for ages 10 and up; adult supervision is required for anyone under 18. \n\n\n\nTickets: $15 \n\n\n\nReservations required. Tickets are nonrefundable. If you need to cancel\, your ticket purchase may be converted into a donation\, and we’ll provide a donation receipt. \n\n\n\nCome experience the darker side of history.Darkness is part of Spooktober at Westport Museum\, a series of programs exploring the strange\, unsettling\, and downright chilling stories hiding in the past.Click here to explore more.

SUMMARY:Ale To The Chief: Drink Like the Founders
DESCRIPTION:Raise a glass to George Washington—and discover what America’s first president actually drank. \n\n\n\nStep into the tavern world of the American Revolution for Ale to the Chief\, a lively evening of historic drinks\, tavern fare\, and stories of Westport’s role in the War for Independence. \n\n\n\nSample stout made from George Washington’s own recipe and brewed in Virginia\, along with tastings of whisky bottled from Washington’s historic distillery at Mount Vernon. Pair your drinks with popular tavern foods of Washington’s day as we raise a glass to the people\, places\, and tastes that fueled the Revolution. \n\n\n\nThis is history you can taste. \n\n\n\nThe evening is part of the Westport Museum for History & Culture’s programming connected to The Real Revolution\, an exhibition that looks beyond the familiar Founding Fathers to explore the many people whose lives\, choices\, struggles\, and contributions shaped the American Revolution. What did people eat and drink? Where did they gather? What did they talk about? And how did the tavern become one of the places where revolutionary ideas—and revolutionary action—took hold? \n\n\n\nCome for the history. Stay for the stout\, whisky\, and tavern food. \n\n\n\nTicket proceeds directly support Westport Museum’s ongoing research\, exhibitions\, and interpretation\, helping us uncover the many stories that make American history whole. \n\n\n\nMust be 21 or older to attend. ID required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrought to you by our Marquis De Lafayette Sponsor:
