SUMMARY:Ale To The Chief: Drink Like the Founders
DESCRIPTION:Raise a glass to George Washington—and discover what America’s first president actually drank. \n\n\n\nStep into the tavern world of the American Revolution for Ale to the Chief\, a lively evening of historic drinks\, tavern fare\, and stories of Westport’s role in the War for Independence. \n\n\n\nSample stout made from George Washington’s own recipe and brewed in Virginia\, along with tastings of whisky bottled from Washington’s historic distillery at Mount Vernon. Pair your drinks with popular tavern foods of Washington’s day as we raise a glass to the people\, places\, and tastes that fueled the Revolution. \n\n\n\nThis is history you can taste. \n\n\n\nThe evening is part of the Westport Museum for History & Culture’s programming connected to The Real Revolution\, an exhibition that looks beyond the familiar Founding Fathers to explore the many people whose lives\, choices\, struggles\, and contributions shaped the American Revolution. What did people eat and drink? Where did they gather? What did they talk about? And how did the tavern become one of the places where revolutionary ideas—and revolutionary action—took hold? \n\n\n\nCome for the history. Stay for the stout\, whisky\, and tavern food. \n\n\n\nTicket proceeds directly support Westport Museum’s ongoing research\, exhibitions\, and interpretation\, helping us uncover the many stories that make American history whole. \n\n\n\nMust be 21 or older to attend. ID required. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBrought to you by our Marquis De Lafayette Sponsor:
