12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join our friends at New York Historical Society Museum & Library and Di Menna Children’s History Museum online via Zoom and meet famous leaders, activists, soldiers, and craftspeople from the past interpreted by living history interpreters from the present!

For this event, WM Executive Director Ramin Ganeshram, culinary historian and author of The General‘s Cook, shares the story of Chef Hercules Posey, who was one of the first chefs of a U.S. presidential household. An acclaimed chef with a great palate, Chef Hercules remained enslaved by George Washington until he liberated himself. Join us to learn about the skills Chef Hercules used and the challenges he faced. Cook along with us as we make an 18th-century chocolate treat!

This is a free program, but registration is required. To register please visit the New York Historical Society here.
