SUMMARY:LGBTQ + Oral History Project
DESCRIPTION:For more than 50 years the Museum has been taking oral histories from the community. These valuable records give us first-person insight into the times in which people lived. We continue to build our collection of oral histories which inform research\, exhibitions and programs with a special focus on areas that are underrepresented. One area that is lacking in our collection is material relating to the LGBTQ + experience. The Museum is currently focusing on building an archive of the LGBTQ+ experience for future historians to use. Oral histories taken by a talented group of young public historians is key to this effort. \n\n\n\nIf you would like to share your story we want to hear it! Email archives@westporthistory.org to sign up for one of these available slots: \n\n\n\nThursday & Friday : 2:00- 2:50pm; 3:00 – 3:50 pm; 4:00 to 4:50 pm \n\n\n\nSaturday 11:00 to 11:50 am; 12:00 to 12:50 pm; 1:00 – 1:50 pm; 2:00 – 2:50 pm; 3:00- 3:50 pm; 4:00- 4:50 pm \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCall for Oral Histories

SUMMARY:Learn Cursive!
DESCRIPTION:Ages 8 and up\, Reservation required \n\n\n\nSchools are bringing cursive back! It’s how we wrote for centuries but many young people never learned it. Across the country\, there is a new movement to reclaim it and teach it. Cursive is more than just an art. Learning it helps strengthen fine motor skills\, improves memory\, and helps kids process information faster. Writing in cursive actually activates neural pathways connected to both memory and language. It trains the brain to recognize letter patterns in a way which boosts spelling and reading. Using cursive can even help kids generate more ideas and help them better understand what they are learning.  \n\n\n\nSo come and get into the flow! Come to a cursive workshop and learn how to use it! Materials supplied.
