79 Coleytown Road

Christine and Gad Romann are honoring Westport’s heritage by displaying a Westport Historical Society plaque identifying their home at 79 Coleytown Road as the John Gray House which was built in circa 1820.  John Gray Jr. acquired the land from his father’s estate and built the home for himself and his wife, Abigail Coley.  Over the years, the property was enlarged and redone in the academic colonial revival style as a gracious country retreat. When the Romanns first saw the house they “fell in love and knew they we would buy it…realizing we were in a very unique place.  We walked into a heritage of happiness and we were willing to carry it on.” The house is currently on the market.          Bob Weingarten for WestportNow.com
