144 Imperial Ave.

Billy Nistico honored Westport’s heritage by displaying a Westport Historical Society plaque identifying this home at 144 Imperial Ave. as the Rasmus C. Karstensen house which was built in c.1893.  Karstensen built this house after purchasing the land from A. L. Vanderbuilt in 1890. The property was then sold to Neils P Christensen in 1899. Nistico, having been born and raised in Westport, purchased the house in 2007 since he “loved the charm and history as well as the location.” He said that “being a lifelong Westport resident and realtor for William Raveis Real Estate, it’s very important for me to preserve Westport historic homes.” Although the house was named the “happy house” by his friends, Nistico recently sold it and said he knows that the new owners appreciate the history associated with it.  Bob Weingarten for WestportNow.com
