On Sunday, March 19th, the WHS hosted the Mad Hatter’s Tea for families. There was a lovely crowd with all ages of children with parents. The event opened with The Great Sirico doing some old fashioned magic which was very engaging and interactive. All children who came up received an animal balloon. He also brought a white dove and a beautiful rabbit for the kids to pet.
Chef Cindy Hartog and her daughter Danielle prepared traditional scones the English way. She had an almost perfect English accent and took the children on an imaginary trip to England where they made scones, coming up to help and laughing a lot along the way. Cindy prepared ahead of time a beautiful tray of scones, homemade whipped cream (which the children also helped make), jam and beautiful decorated cookies. Beverages were served as well and everyone enjoyed the tea food. Alice Siegel, a retired art teacher, supervised the Mad Hatter’s tea project of “making your own hat”. Each child left with a personally-designed hat with all kinds of cut outs, ribbons, feathers and more.
