Barnes & Noble Book Fair

The Historical Societies of Westport, Weston, Wilton and Fairfield presented a special book fair hosted by Barnes & Noble Booksellers, 1076 Post Road, Westport on Thursday, June 5th.  The activities included:

  • Accomplished actress and singer Dorothy Bryce read a local tale called “The Little Minuteman” written by Henry Paine in 1924 about one young boy’s heroism (portrayed by Teddy Gibson) to save his father during the American Revolution.

  • Sara Gruen spoke about toys that were made in the Weston Toy Factory

  • Children’s author Alan Katz read a charming tale called Julie in 1910 about the plight of the American chestnut trees.

  • Historian Dan Cruson talked about Slavery in Central Fairfield County .

  • Period costumed docents will facilitate wonderful hands-on crafts including wool carting, tin punch and more. (4 - 8pm)

  •  by Fairfield Historical Society’s Walter Matis gave a portrayal of an American Marine during the American Revolution.
