Westport's Hidden Art Treasure Tour

April 24th, 12:00 noon

The Westport Historical Society presents a special art tour called Westport’s Hidden Art Treasures. The tour will begin at the Westport Central Fire Department on the Post Road East. This will be a guided tour of The History of Heat by Westport artist Ralph Boyer, one of fifteen artists selected to work on a Westport WPA Project. In 1934, Ralph Boyer completed two series of paintings chronicling The History of Fire, a total of eight works. The first set of four shows how fire is used by man and the second set, titled The Symbolic Evolution of Heat illustrates the powerful forces of fire and heat in nature. These paintings are now part of the Westport Schools Permanent Art Collection, and were placed in the fire department to be partr of the children’s fire education program. Following this 45 minute tour, you are invited to join us for a special price-fixed lunch at nearby Martha Pizzeria Ristorante. Reservations are suggested. Fee: $5; lunch is an additional fee.
